Zelensky, at the Golden Globes: “There won’t be a Third World War. It’s not a trilogy.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appeared at the ceremony for the 80th edition of the Golden Globe through a recorded intervention arguing that future generations should know about war only through movies. “The First World War claimed millions of lives, the Second World War tens of millions, and there will be no Third World War. It’s not a trilogy,” Zelensky said, stressing that Ukraine would stop Russian aggression. “I hope you will all be with us on Victory Day,” said the Ukrainian president, while urging spectators and those present at the ceremony to tell the “truth” on social networks and on television.

Zelensky was introduced at the ceremony by actor Sean Penn, who gave a visibly moving speech and who last year gave the Ukrainian president one of his Oscars. Zelensky, who was an actor, also intervened in 2022 at festivals such as Cannes and Venice.
